For its 153rd edition in 2026, the city celebrates an unprecedented historic theme: "Long Live the Queen!". This theme marks a major turning point in Nice's tradition, placing a female figure at the heart of the festivities for the first time.
A Legendary Carnival Since 1873
From Place Masséna to Quai des États-Unis, via the Promenade du Paillon and the Promenade des Anglais, the public marvels at the famous Carnival Parades and elegant Flower Battles. Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by monumental floats, the iconic "grosses têtes" (giant heads), and international dance troupes, will bring to life a show vibrant with color. This world-class event attracts visitors every year to admire the creative costumes and unique energy of the parades.
Did you know? French writer Alphonse Karr is the founder of the Flower Battle. Living in Nice and passionate about flowers, he wanted a show where people could celebrate by throwing bouquets. This is how the first Flower Battle was born in 1876 on the Promenade des Anglais!

The city of Nice comes alive from February 11 to March 1, 2026. Here are the must-see events for this 153rd edition of the Nice Carnival:
- The Grand Charivari (Opening): Wednesday, Feb 11 at 4:00 PM at the Maison de Carnaval (Free entry).
- Veglione Ball: Friday, Feb 13 at 7:00 PM at the Nice Opera House.
- The Carnavalina: Saturday, Feb 14 at 2:00 PM (Free entry).
- Opening Illuminated Parade: Saturday, Feb 14 at 9:00 PM at Place Masséna.
- Flower Battle: Wednesdays Feb 18 & 25, Saturdays Feb 21 & 28 at 2:30 PM.
- Illuminated Carnival Parades (Night): Tuesdays Feb 17 & 24, Saturdays Feb 21 & 28 at 8:30 PM.
- "D'Aqui" Carnival Parade (Day): Sunday, Feb 22 at 2:30 PM.
- Lou Queernaval: Friday, Feb 27 at 8:00 PM.
- Closing Festivities & Incineration: Saturday, Feb 28 at 10:30 PM at Quai des États-Unis (Free entry).
Good to know: Access to the pedestrian zones for the Carnival Parades is free for spectators who are fully dressed in costume!
